A failure of love

Many misunderstandings are just a failure of love .

. Love .

Your best friend does not come to see your new baby and you tell everyone who cares to know that you cannot believe it till you bump into her husband and he tells you they have had two miscarriages in the past five months.

You are ecstatic about  your upcoming wedding and you complain that your aunt should stop being such a party spoiler till you discover that her husband had two children with someone else

You are hospitalized for a week and not a single person from your family can come to see you and you cry with rejection till you discover  they were at a funeral of an uncle who died suddenly.

A failure to walk in someone else’s shoes

Did Christ not tell us how it was to be done “ You must love your neighbor as yourself ?”

And did not St Francis pray

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;to be understood, as to understand;to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
